Bannapkan guide: how to read Seoul Bike station numbers
First, where these numbers come from and how far to trust them.
What you see
For each station, how many bikes are listed now and how many docks it has.
If a station has no bikes or no free dock, you get the nearest other stations by distance.
Made for the ride home when you need a dock, or the ride out when you need a bike.
Each district page lists its stations so you can scan them.
How to read the numbers
The bike count is exactly what Seoul publishes. We add and remove nothing.
0 bikes means you cannot rent there. The data gives no reason.
Free docks is docks minus bikes. We count it only when bikes are fewer than docks.
About four in ten stations list at least as many bikes as docks. For those we do not count free docks. Check on site.
Nearest stations
Distance is a straight line between two stations. It is not a walking route.
Only stations within 1.5 km show, nearest first, up to three.
For free docks we pick only stations with at least one free dock.
Use a map app for the walking route and time.
Time and limits
We fetch the bike count every 10 minutes. The time shows at the top of the page.
Bikes can leave or arrive in between. The real count may differ by now.
If we miss a fetch, or the data is over 30 minutes old, we drop the count and say so.
Station locations and dock counts change rarely, so we fetch them separately.
Source and updates
The data is Seoul's Seoul Bike station data on Seoul Open Data Plaza under KOGL Type 1, so we credit the source.
This is not an official service of Seoul or Seoul Facilities Corporation. Rent and pay in the Seoul Bike app.
We collect no personal data. The privacy policy has the details.
If a fetch falls outside the usual row counts or ratios, we do not publish it and stop. That keeps wrong numbers off the page.
